Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro has been very open about his struggles dealing with drug abuse, depression and thoughts of suicide. Now, in a recent post to his Instagram account, Navarro wrote a compassionate letter imploring those dealing with similar thoughts of suicide to seek help.

"I have been there, written 'the note', had the plan, the stockpile of meds, how to disperse my property among my family," Navarro wrote. "I was ready to go. Luckily, as a last ditched effort, I reached out."

Navarro reassured readers that despite whatever it is that they are dealing with now, life always gets better. "Hang in there to allow the process and the shapes to change. I can tell you 100% that they do. Please reach out if you find yourself in the darkness. There is no darkness without light. Try to be willing to let it find you."

Navarro recently participated in the Above Ground awareness concert held in partnership with MusiCares to raise funds and awareness for substance abuse and suicide prevention.

If you or anyone you know is struggling with depression and/or thoughts of suicide, know that someone is always there. Additionally, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 1-800-273-8255.
